HESTRA

You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. I loved my Hestra gloves, but never fully appreciated them until I lost one. I have held on to its mate, hoping that they will magically be reunited. But I think it's time to bite the bullet and invest in a new pair. My current J.Crew gloves just can't compete with Hestra's fine Swedish craftsmanship.

BLACK AND WHITE

This mesmerizing pillow cover was hand silkscreened by Au Retour, an independent textile design and print studio based out of Brooklyn, NY. The pattern was created by folding and slicing black and white clay, and then photocopying the results.

PATTERNS FROM ABOVE

Breathtaking aerial photography from Brent Yaggi and Sarah Hicks. A Pennsylvanian and Brit, they are currently based in Denver and together they fly all over North America in a Cessna 172 looking for beauty from above. I look forward to seeing photos of their June 2012 nuptials!

DREAM HOME: LANDSCAPE ELEMENT

"The project is a winter cabin to be built in a highly restricted area in the mountain landscape of Ă…l in Norway. The cabin is designed as a landscape element that leads wind and snow around and over the building. One of the client’s initial wishes was to be able to actually go skiing, sledge riding and picnicking on top of the cabin."

DENYING DUVETS

Intrigued by their shower curtain sale on Fab.com, I discovered that DENY Designs also offers hundreds of dazzling duvets - including a "design your own" personalized option.

STAMPSCAPES

I'm not sure if I love stamps because I love mail, if I love mail because I love stamps, or perhaps I love them independently of each other. I adored celebrating Kansas' 150th birthday all year long with its statehood stamp in 2011, but I might be even more excited for 2012's Earthscapes series. "This stamp pane presents examples of three categories of earthscapes: natural, agricultural, and urban. The photographs were all created high above the planet’s surface, either snapped by “eyes in the sky” — satellites orbiting the Earth — or carefully composed by photographers in aircraft."

I am particularly smitten with the center stamp featuring "center-pivot irrigation," as that is what my first hometown looks like from the sky.

AS GREEN AS IT GETS

"3form 100 Percent® is an architectural resin panel made from 100% post-consumer recycled high density polyethylene. With over 1000 milk bottles going into each panel, it can help projects earn up to 2 LEED credits for recycled content (4.1 & 4.2).

This is a truly sustainable material with a refreshingly sophisticated aesthetic, proving that high design can really be low impact."
