I don't think there is anyone who does not love this song. Originally written and released by Leonard Cohen in 1984, it has been performed and recorded by hundreds of artists in various languages. The full version of the song has 15 verses, but Cohen is said to have written 80 verses originally and it took him two years to complete. Cohen has said of the song's meaning: "It explains that many kinds of hallelujahs do exist, and all the perfect and broken hallelujahs have equal value."
"Hallelujah" is a Hebrew word, meaning "praise Yah." The song is broadcast at 2am every Saturday night by the Israeli defence force's radio channel.
